Abstract

(Lancet. 2024;404:1430–43. DOI: 10.1016/S0140-6736(24)01612-X) Postnatal depression (PPD) is a significant concern that requires timely and effective interventions to prevent negative outcomes for both mothers and their children in the short term and throughout their lives. British South Asian women with PPD are often underserved in this regard, facing challenges such as language barriers, stigma, and cultural differences that hinder access to proper treatment. This trial aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of a culturally adapted, group-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention called the Positive Health Programme (PHP), delivered by nonspecialist health workers, to treat PPD in this population.
